Kannawidan Ilocos Event is a festival in Ilocos Sur that commemorates the 1818 split of the two Ilocos provinces. This celebration features cultural performances, religious rites, and cookery demonstrations showcasing the best of Ilocano cuisine. It is a festival that takes place during the last week of January and the first week of February. The commemoration of the province's founding day is included in the schedule of activities. A mass is usually held in the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral on the day of the opening. The Patron Saints of the 40 parishes, as well as images of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, parade about the city. It is the Ilocanos' way of thanking God not just for the various advantages, but also for the city's rich legacy, which includes the Ilocanos' tight familial ties. This celebration demonstrates the ilocano’s great faith.

We've all been affected by the current COVID-19 epidemic. Nonetheless, it's encouraging to know that, whatever the circumstances, we may still rejoice. Because of the significant risk of being infected by the virus and the strict health measures that come with it, we can't enjoy it as much as we used to. Due to our limited mobility and social distance, we are less engaged with one another, giving us a unique sense during the event. Regardless, just thinking about it makes us happy.

Overall, we should be thankful for the chance to commemorate it. Fiestas should be celebrated because they can help people cope with stress and other ailments brought on by overwork.
